This conference offers a moment of reflection, assessment and shared perspective on the response launched following the events that affected several regions of Portugal, with particular attention to the support mobilised from Luxembourg.
Throughout the session, the main results achieved so far will be presented, including the mobilisation of companies, associations and private individuals, the volume of aid collected, and the concrete impact of the solidarity organised around this cause. It will also be an opportunity to publicly acknowledge the involvement of the Portuguese community in Luxembourg and the role of the organisations coordinating this collective effort.
The conference will also highlight what is still underway and the initiatives planned for the coming months, before focusing on the next stage: the reconstruction process itself. In this context, the session will address the support mechanisms currently in place, the main challenges that remain, and the outlook for affected businesses, property owners and local communities.
The session will include remote interventions by the Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities, Emídio Sousa, as well as members of the Mission Structure responsible for implementing aid on the ground, reinforcing the institutional and practical relevance of this conference.
More than a retrospective, this session also aims to open a broader reflection on how Portuguese citizens living abroad can continue to contribute, in a useful and coordinated way, to a reconstruction effort based on responsibility, cooperation and continuity.
